One of my clients told me about a new movement towards radical honesty. One of my colleagues told me that some times, people are radically dishonest in their relationships. They don't tell the truth so they don't hurt people. Well, that got my mind going -- and this song resulted. And my colleague's name is Jennifer -- and this is her song.
Jennifer's Song (I Like It When You LIe)

I like it when you sigh,
when you are sleeping in your naked feet --
I like it when you lie,
every chance you give our eyes to meet --
and I like you in your jeans,
and all your in betweens
as if I never knew
It's not the same for you, for you --

But don't you ever speak the truth,
cause if you did we'd fall apart, apart
and I'm not asking you for proof,
no matter what's inside your heart, your heart --
cause I don't want your honesty,
I just want you here with me --
Sure, I can see it in your eyes,
but I like it when you lie.

I fell into your life
and now it simply won't unravel now,
I live inside your light,
and hope you never take these shadows down,
and every night it seems
something like my dreams,
and every time you call,
I tumble and I fall, I fall --

But don't you ever speak the truth,
cause if you did we'd fall apart, apart
and I'm not asking you for proof,
no matter what's inside your heart, your heart --
cause I don't want your honesty,
I just want you here with me --
Sure, I can see it in your eyes,
but I like it when you lie.

Sometimes it hurts me
just to hold you
and to feel the things you don't --
you never tell me
what I've told you,
and I know tonight you won't,
you won't --

But don't you ever speak the truth,
cause if you did we'd fall apart, apart, apart --
and I'm not asking you for proof,
no matter what's inside your heart, your heart --
cause I don't want your honesty,
I just want you here with me --
Sure, I can see it in your eyes,
but I like it when (you lie)
to tell the truth,
I like it when you lie --
sure, I can see it there in your eyes,
but I like it when you lie.

With thanks to Jennifer Riley -- a fine lawyer, a fine writer and a friend who deserved her own song
